Welcome to Egg Cave Quests

Egg Cave Quests are a brand-new way for players to use their items and, ultimately, exchange them up for extremely rare and limited edition creatures at The VEND Machine.

Egg Cave Quests have been in beta for the last several weeks. After getting feedback and data from hundreds of testers, we're ready for the public to enjoy this game-changing feature.

The Basics of Questing

  • Visit the NPCs under Quests (find the Quests link under the Games drop down)
  • Start a quest and return the items they ask for
  • Upon successfully completing a quest, you will receive Quest Tokens of that type in return
  • Spend your Quest Tokens at The VEND Machine
  • Creatures you obtain from The VEND Machine will be marked on their profile as such (i.e. a "VEND Creature")

How The VEND Machine Works

The VEND Machine is controlled by Team Egg Cave. Reward pools will only be available for a limited time and can change at any moment. There is no "schedule" when it comes to reward pools (like monthlies). Reward pools at The VEND Machine, of course, will be up for long enough for the average user to work toward their goal but know that they won't be there for forever!

The goal is to accumulate Quest Tokens over time to redeem a reward pool. Get started!

How To Get Items You Need

Quest NPCs will be asking for items from all around Ark — not just items that you own or have in your Strongroom already. To find items you need for quests, you'll need to use:

"We Already Know" Quirks of Questing

Older players who have gigantic Strongroom stockpiles will begin with an obvious advantage with quests but this will decrease over time as they use their items. Don't hate on players who have lots of items already. They earned it.

Additionally, you should not expect to be able to successfully complete all quests taken. This is a part of the game! We have done our best to design an enjoyable questing system but your success rates will not be 100%.

Philosophy of Quests

Questing is Team Egg Cave's attempt to improve user access to rare creatures from past years. Egg Cave is enjoying an influx of brand-new, enthusiastic players and nothing is more frustrating than signing up for a web site only to discover that you can physically obtain less than 50% of all of the creatures ever created. Egg Cave was never meant to become a game where species literally go extinct or are impossibly priced.

Team Egg Cave plans to be actively engaged with the community to see what creatures might be in demand for a possible VEND Machine appearance. Know that we're listening to you and paying attention to your comments and the creatures you want.

Please know that, at the moment, we have no plans to re-release Egg Cave species that were CaveCash-only creatures at the The VEND Machine. Other site features are being explored for this. Cave monthlies and event creatures from years past are the most likely to become available at The VEND Machine in coming months.

Coming Soon to Quests

  • More quest types and NPCs
  • More reward pools available at The VEND Machine

New Areas at Egg Cave

  • My Tokens: see your Quest Token balances (find Quests under the Games drop down menu)
  • Monthly: Quests Leaderboard: the top 50 questers will receive 25,000 EC at the turn of each month (on the 1st)
  • Help: Quests: there's a brand-new Quests FAQ page to help you learn more about questing

Multiple Accounts

Do not visit Quest NPCs from your side accounts. This is a main accounts-only activity.

Not a huge quester? Maybe become a restocker!

There is going to be increased demand for items from the main shops. It will become more profitable to begin reselling items in your shops (mostly to questers). Now is the time to begin selling!

@ian a question: do I lose all of my quest coins when the pool in the vend machine changes before I could take a creature out of it?

Orderedchaos • 8 Oct 2018, 1:09 PM

@sybil_howlett The only way to lose tokens is to spend them. You won't lose tokens when the quest pools change.

sybil_howlett • 8 Oct 2018, 1:45 PM

@orderedchaos good to know, thank you so much for replying 😃 and will the creatures which are now in the pool come back in the future again?

Orderedchaos • 8 Oct 2018, 1:46 PM

@sybil_howlett Its possible that they'll come back in different pools.

Ian • 8 Oct 2018, 2:07 PM

Thanks everyone for your support and positivity around quests! We're reading your comments here and look forward to continue to ironing out the kinks.

sybil_howlett • 8 Oct 2018, 2:38 PM

@orderedchaos I hope they come back lol, thank you again ❤️

It seems the pools have an equal chance of each prize. My suggestion, if CSPs can be released, would be to make tiered pools, like "common" say 2 creatures 30% chance each, uncommon, say 2 creatures 15% each, and one CSP grand prize, 10% chance of getting it?

ethereality • 8 Oct 2018, 6:06 PM

To make quests token costs more realistic because the hallowolf quest requirement seems to be only available to the Top 8 based on the Quest Leaderboard of the whole site...

veritaspunk • 8 Oct 2018, 7:16 PM

@ethereality I have not completed a quest and have no incentive to ( at this time ), but I don't like that it seems you don't get to pick the one you want from the pool It seems illogical that a vending machine wouldn't let you choose what you want,if you have correct currency.

ethereality • 8 Oct 2018, 7:18 PM

@veritaspunk Read my comment again. I said that each prize has an equal chance of getting picked, not you can pick what prize you get

veritaspunk • 8 Oct 2018, 7:22 PM

@ethereality Yeah I stated that it's odd that a vending machine wouldn't just let you pick from that tier/pool/etc if you had the appropriate credit.

ethereality • 8 Oct 2018, 7:24 PM

@veritaspunk Oops, sorry! D: Well, I think it would be too easy to get rarer creatures from a pool, because Skullrine and Hallowolf are clearly not equals in terms of value.

veritaspunk • 8 Oct 2018, 7:25 PM

@ethereality ... but people earn them... time sink and ec sink included.

carcharhiniformes • 8 Oct 2018, 10:21 PM

Wait, so if I want one of the retired CRW creatures, I'd need 20 tokens from each quest line? 20 from GG, 20 from SR, 20 from GQ and 20 from TQ? On one hand, I understand why...on the other hand I hardly think that's fair.

prairie • 8 Oct 2018, 10:58 PM

@carcharhiniformes Yup. And with prices as it is now, you can easily trade a few 100k or a few recent cave monthlies for 2018 CRWs (due to them increasing the initial amount of cave attempts for the CRW days). So doing the 80 quests (with prices in user shops RN), will almost ---

prairie • 8 Oct 2018, 10:58 PM

guarantee you'll be overpaying. 😋

carcharhiniformes • 8 Oct 2018, 11:04 PM

@prairie Yeah some prices I've seen in shops have been WAY overpriced, but that's a different story. I'll put in the time needed to obtain all the tokens, especially since I can just save my tokens for something else, I just think they're asking for too many for ONE random egg.

cheetahgirl8 • 8 Oct 2018, 11:58 PM

WOOHOO

foxbit • 9 Oct 2018, 11:13 AM

I agree! 20 tokens of every type of quest per ONE random CRW creature is kinda unfair.

Orderedchaos • 9 Oct 2018, 12:27 PM

For everyone complaining about the cost of certain pools, no one is forcing you to choose that pool. Don't think the cost is worth simply don't do it, work on a different prize pool instead.

idol • 9 Oct 2018, 5:19 PM

Wow. Um ^^

arvak • 10 Oct 2018, 7:39 AM

Are the quests for same for everyone? I see many cheap items in user stores, but the ones needed for my quests are ridiculously expensive. Seems like this could be a fun way to use up items, but I don't have heaps of free time, so I doubt I'll earn enough for the VEND.

Orderedchaos • 10 Oct 2018, 11:36 AM

@arvak Quests ask for different items for everyone.

arvak • 10 Oct 2018, 12:59 PM

@Orderedchaos Coolio! Thanks for answering me. I guess I just need some hot items. 😊

iris1929578 • 10 Oct 2018, 10:54 PM

Woah! Cool!

muppet • 12 Oct 2018, 5:46 PM

Are there any plans to give shop owners a notice of what was purchased when we go to collect new money in the shop till? Maybe something like anything purchased for over 2k or 5k EC or something? It would really help to know what's being bought when you have a larger shop 😊
