Slow Feed & No EC

Just a little something I noticed when feeding back some users.

I would be feeding their creatures and the feed button would be stuck on the loading sign. I refreshed the page in case it was my browser, but instead everything loaded fine. What was odd is that the creature shown as "fed" and I did not receive any EC. This has happened for the past 10 creatures. What's going on?

Update: I just now received the EC from all of them. I guess my question is why the process of it is slow?
