How do people keep names or even trade for names?

This confuses me a little bit. How is it possible to keep names or even trade for names? I see this frequently and it doesn't make sense to me. Because every time a see a similar name or try to name my creatures if it's already in use I have to alter it in some way. So I see name uft or creature uft but Keeping name and it makes me wonder how that is possible.

Well,I think that you just rename the creature and put the name on a different creature. 😊 Hope this helps, I suck at explaining things.

When a lot says the person is going to keep a name
1) The lot maker needs to take down the lot if someone one decides they want the critter so they can rename the critter to something random.
2) they put the name on a name holder [random common or cheap seasonal or cheap cave monthly] or the new critter they want the name to be on for awhile.
3) they put the critter back up for the other person to offer on the critter.

Trading names
The name is put on an unwanted critter, usually a common when they go to trade the name
