I think this is long overdue.

Talking on the forum is one thing, it's slow moving, and makes it hard to have meaningful conversations. But a live chatbox? Maybe hosted at the bottom of the 'forum' page? Imagine how much easier it'll be to get to know other people who enjoy this game?

I've been having a hard time getting back into Eggcave, mostly because it's so lonely. The forums move like molasses compared to what it was back when I was super active.

Who's with me on this? Who'd love to talk in real time, make new friends that you'd have never have met on Eggcave otherwise?

I agree with you. I feel like Egg Cave has gotten more lonely the more the year have passed. I do have an idea of why Egg Cave has crawled to almost nothing, but nonetheless, your idea is good 😊

I suggested this a long while ago, but nothing came of it so I made the Shoutbox thread instead. But that one's died down in regular visitors over the years and isn't anything like a real chat box.

I've often thought it'd be nice to have one

That'd be great! Then Egg Cave's population can come together, as some people are not active on forums 😊 PLus, forums are slow since it requires pinging and doesn't update live, so when we reply in a thread we may miss a reply.

You have my full support O.o this would honestly be amazing, all of us coming together and talking about random stuff. I think it would be sorta slow tho, because when all of us are posting at once, but still! Full support!!!

Ooh, if it gets to active, maybe the chat box could have multiple tabs, or 'rooms'?

It's usually up to Ian to create features like this though, but I'd imagine a Mod could pass the message along that there's an interest in this idea.

But worth giving it another go, I think it could have been years since users last suggested it, haha :>

(Though, if it has several tabs, it practically becomes a mini forum?)

@icymuffin Well, people could gravitate towards the room with the most people. It'll at least cut out the annoying refresh frenzy when waiting for someone to respond to you ^^
