AFFLICTIONLOCKE CHALLENGE

╚═════════ ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ═════════╝

If you clicked on this, you're probably confused and maybe a bit curious. So let me introduce you to a challenge of my very own--the afflictionlocke!

The 'locke' is short for 'nuzlocke', a way of playing a Pokemon game that makes it more challenging, adding a permanent death mechanic as well as limiting what you can catch. There are many variations of a nuzlocke such as a wonderlocke, egglocke, and colorlocke, each twisting the baseline rules in a new way. In an egglocke, you swap your encounters for an egg in the box, in the colorlocke, you can only catch and use pokemon of a certain color, and, well--I bet you probably get the point.

When I first thought up the afflictionlocke, I didn't intend it to be used with nuzlocke rules--so keep that in mind when attempting. If you're interested, please follow the link to the google document containing the rules.

About Scorbis Eggs

This creature was available as a prize for participating in The Case of the Missing Kinump Seeds plot for the Halloween Bash of 2012.

The appearance of Scorbis eggs resembles that of large pincers! When Scorbis eggs are ready to hatch, the pincers will spread apart to allow the hatchlings an easy way to exit the extremely durable shell.

About the Scorbis Creature

Scorbis typically reside in dens which are dug beneath rock outcroppings as a means of protection against the harsh desert climate of the Northern Plains. It is within this central den where a small pack of Scorbis rest until nightfall. These nocturnal predators will prowl the vast desert in search for both living and dead creatures to be used as nourishment for the pack.

Growing upon the backs of Scorbis is an arachnid-like exoskeleton that ends in a segmented tail with a venomous barb. The fast-acting venom within the barbed tip of Scorbis tails is used to ward off attackers and to paralyze prey. A single dosage of venom from a matured Scorbis tail is powerful enough to even paralyze a fully grown Marlay.

Ancient Arkian mythology explains the role of Scorbis as "Overseers of the Dead" and how they connect with the origin of Mummars. In exchange for the meal that the fallen bodies of prey provide, Scorbis offered them a chance to live once more but at the cost of becoming a loyal servant. These mummified servants, now known as Mummars, roamed the island of Ark to decide the fate of the recently departed and those on the brink of death.
