Let light shine
out of darkness

· Introduction ·

The Moon shone a pale, white light, showering the snow and ice with light. A cool breeze whispered through the trees. It blew the cold into the cave, covering the stone in frost, killing what few plants still lived. If one had walked into the cave at that moment, they would not have noticed anything. They wouldn't have bothered to look in the darkest corner. They wouldn't have bothered to study the pile of grass, twigs, and snow. They wouldn't have noticed a quiet, dim purple glow, or the twitch of an ear. No one did. The quiet wind continued to blow. The cave continued to be cold. And the Moon continued to shine. But something was happening that would disturb the peaceful, cold quiet. There was a slight cracking noise. Something was coming to life. And it was the creature within the egg. It had been given a chance of life. A chance to feel the sun on it's back, feel the wind ruffle it's fur, see the stars shining bright, feel the rising hope yet to come. But only a chance. The egg rocked back and forth, cracks like a starburst appearing all over it. More. More. The egg suddenly fell onto the cold stone floor with a crack, and the egg opened. Inside was one of the most beautiful creatures of Ark. It was a little puppy, with glowing purple wings gently flapping. It whimpered. No one came. It gave out a soft yelp. No one came. Then came the tiniest whisper, softer than the snow that fell onto the lake.
"Hello?"

· Thief ·

Unknown. Unwanted. Those are two words to describe my childhood. I have been called many things, though. You see, I am a Unusith. And not many people like our kind at the moment. Personally, I don't like my fellow Unusith that much, either. And it's generally for one particular reason. The Wild Hunt. I have two big reasons not to like them. One, I am judged wherever I go. People see me and think of havoc, destruction, evil, and betrayal. At first, I tried to convince them. After all, I'M not in the wild hunt, right? But creatures and humans don't see it that way. Apparently Unusith ARE the wild hunt in their opinion. But by second reason for hating the wild hunt is that that is probably the reason I'm an orphan. The reason I had to steal a farmer's chicken and almost be eaten by his Hoddel. The reason I wander from village to village, town to town, skirting around in alleys and eating from the dump. That is, if there aren't any other creatures eating from there. The left me for the Wild Hunt. My parents did. And that is why I am here, curled up inside an empty garbage bin.
Selen paused his brooding. Brooding didn't help. Grumpily, he sat up and shook his little head. Despite not being full grown at all, he was probably more clever than most humans. He was a small, skinny dog with cold eyes and a small scar across his throat, which was from the Hoddel. Selen knew how to open locks, trick security cameras, and steal the best food. Yes, he was a thief. One of the best in Ark, in fact. Even a Tidnab once spoke to him long enough to scowl and say that he was a pretty good thief. So why was he sitting in a garbage can thinking? He had just seen another Unusith. She had been prancing happily alongside her human owner girl. The Unusith had looked so... happy. Carefree. And the girl. The girl had been eating bacon (a delicacy Selen had yet to try), and had even handed some over to her Unusith. Perhaps the human girl wasn't so bad? But now Selen was angry with himself for hiding behind a fence, watching them walk by, laughing cheerfully. WHY hadn't he introduced himself. Scowling, he peeked out from his trash can. It was pretty dark, almost midnight, and there was not a sound to be heard. Perfect. The clouds even covered up the moon tonight.
"Who should I steal from tonight," he whispered to himself, stalking slowly through the streets. "The bakery is always nice. But of course there's Finley's Flavors! Hmmmm..." Selen paused outside of Tim's Food Shoppe. "I think this will do."
Selen unwrapped the paperclip from his tail and began picking the lock. At the same time, he flapped his wings as fast as he could. The security cameras did not react to bright flashing lights, apparently, purple or not. When he heard the lock click, Selen continued beating his wings, but entered the shop very slowly. That way the cameras would think the light faded. It worked. It always did. He was in the shop.
Everything was in perfect order. Toys over there, meat over here, fruits over there, sweets over here. But Selen only needed to take what he needed. Carefully, he sniffed the air. BACON! So following his nose, Selen slowly stalked over to the meat section. Closer, closer came the bacon. Then, aha! There it was in all of it's glory. Mmmmmm..... Selen licked his lips, then gingerly grabbed around ten slices of bacon. Now getting out was a bit harder. You had to beat your wings once again, and slowly fade in. But eventually, Selen was sprinting back to his little den. It was a hole at the roots of a tree, and the entrance was so small that if he overate (which he once did) he wouldn't be able to get back in.
Selen curled up into a ball, feeling satisfied with his find. Slowly, it rained outside. He wondered if his parents are the rest of the wild hunt were out there. Did they miss him, or did they not even remember him? Selen didn't know, but that didn't matter that night, as he was already asleep.

His story will continue....

About Unusith Eggs

Unusith eggs can only be found in Fairy World. The only way to obtain an Unusith egg is to be given one by a fairy or other fae spirit. Attempting to steal one form Fairy World is a very bad idea as you will draw the wrath of all the fairy courts down upon you.

About the Unusith Creature

Being gifted with an Unusith shows that you have earned a blessing, favor, or friendship from a fairy. Unusiths are excellent, if a little puckish, companions, so long as you treat them well and remain in the good graces of the fae. If you abuse your Unusith or somehow anger the fairy who gifted you the original egg your Unusith will turn dark and its pranks and playful behavior will become harmful and destructive. Having your Unusith "join the wild hunt", as this transformation is commonly called, is a sign that you've fallen out of favor with the fae. Any future dealings you may have with the fairies will be more difficult as you've proven that you can not be trusted.

Unusith's who have "joined the wild hunt" will eventually leave their owners, but not after wreaking considerable havoc. Upon leaving the Unusith will return to Fairy World where they will either become companions of the darker, more nasty fae or will join one of the wild Unusith packs that roam that land.
