Bug Fixes Into the Weekend

Thank you for amazing rounds of bug fixes!

From here on out, we'll post less and less about bug fixes on the Site Blog, except if we find anything mission critical. But for the most part, everybody at Egg Cave has done an amazing job at helping us solve most of version 3's biggest issues.

Still finding something that isn't working or is missing from version 2 to version 3? Please submit a bug report at the Forums.

Bug Fixes for Today

  • Fixed a bug that prevented creatures from being auto-deleted from Cove Lists and the Click Exchange when transferred away via Auctions (basically, if the creature isn't yours anymore, it should be removed from both of those places)
  • Fixed a glitch that didn't recache creature images when they evolved
  • Fixed Terron availability times (they were wrong) and the job that updates it
  • Fixed a glitch where Leaf of Vaka user creatures still decreased in happiness

Top Navigation Bar Has Been Updated

The right side of the top navigation bar has been updated to reflect your unread notifications, mail, and friend requests but now also contains links to other important areas that some users have said is "too hard to get to" like My Creatures and Cove Lists.

Today's Bug Fixes

  • Removed captchas from restocking
  • Fixed a glitch that may have triggered the system to update a creature's "immortal at" date when they were, in fact, not immortal
  • Fixed a spelling issue on the Leaderboards

Bug Fixes for Today

  • Fixed a glitch that caused "auction ending in 10 minutes" notifications to dupe
  • Fixed the Halloween Fair broken link
  • Fixed broken Archives cross-species linkage in creature descriptions
  • Re-added a preview of what item/Travel will be restored when using Resurrection Stone (items were still being restored, no matter what, this was just the preview)

Cove List Management Bug Fix

We've fixed the big bug where your Cove List management order wasn't being saved or displayed correctly. When you save, it'll really save it!

Other Fixes

  • Removed reCAPTCHA (the "I'm not a robot checkbox") in favor of a traditional image code when haggling at shops (reCAPTCHAS would become increasingly more strict the more and more you restocked items)
  • Fixed a glitch that may have omitted creatures from being correctly selected from the creatures selector
  • Fixed a glitch that may have omitted items from being correctly selected from the items selector
  • Fixed a glitch that may have caused Click Exchange clicks to deadlock (we've put in place safeguards to get these clicks to go through)
  • Fixed alphabetical order of creature names in various places (i.e. My Creatures)
  • Removed incorrectly placed text at the Mysterious Asteroid

Cove List Management Is Back!

Cove List Management Has Been Fixed

We've completely redone Cove List management when you click Manage & Add Creatures to order your creatures. Instead of relying on the somewhat finicky drag-and-drop functionality (that's normally not the very best at cross-browser compatibility, especially mobile), we've allowed you the ability to physically specify the number that a creature should be ordered. The system will automatically fill in missed or blank spaces.

How to Get Started with Cove Lists...

Head over to Cove List management by clicking "My Creatures" on the sidebar, then clicking "Cove Lists" in the submenu. Create your first list, then start adding and ordering creatures by clicking Manage & Add Creatures. These lists can appear on your profiles.

When you're finished, click Back to Cove Lists to head back to the Egg Cave main site.

In the mean time, we're working on getting the forums search back online! Thank you for helping us squash these bugs over the last week of version 3. You've helped make the new Egg Cave a smashing success!

Side Note: Click Exchange Fixes

Database "deadlocks" (where the database receives different instructions to modify different data at the same exact system time) have been fixed at the Click Exchange, which was causing certain clicks to not register when clicking. This is what caused certain links to reappear after you already "clicked" them.

Other Fixes

  • Fixed a glitch when canceling your auction early
  • Fixed a glitch when sending an inventory item to a friend

We're working around the clock to resolve version 3 issues on Egg Cave to get things in tip-top, working condition. Minor updates today!

Bug Fixes

  • FIXED THE GLITCH THAT CAUSED CREATURE VIEW COUNTS TO DISPLAY INCORRECT
  • Fixed a glitch that may have delivered multiple "You've lost auction #1" notifications
  • Fixed a glitch when changing your email address under Preferences
  • Fixed a glitch that may have displayed less than 100% Cove Health for Leaf of Vaka users
  • Fixed the ability for a blocked user to offer on a trade
  • Now displaying a friendlier error message when attempting to accept an offer that does not exist at the Trades Center (happens when you accept an offer what was just withdrawn but the page hadn't updated)
  • No longer displaying "number until next evolution" in Coves for frozen creatures (doesn't matter)

Note on Creature View Count Bug

Your creature view counts have been updating correctly this whole time. There was no glitch with the back-end system tallying or additions, even if you saw creatures display at 0. It was simply a display issue on creature profiles and Coves. So rest assured that your creatures have been getting the views they deserve this whole time, it's just that the system didn't display the correct calculated number!

This has been fixed! View count numbers are now correct again.

  • Cove List management (sorry -- we know this is taking some time!)
  • Click Exchange dead locks (clicks aren't being fully registered when you mass click with browser extensions)
  • Forums searching and hashtag searches
  • Mobile layout issues

Major Auction Glitches Fixed

Auction Glitches Fixed

We thought that we'd make a quick announcement about Auctions, since there has been a few mission-critical glitches.

Fixed: The Highest Bidder Not Winning

In the rare case that final auction bids were placed within milliseconds of each other, sometimes the system spaced out and didn't know who was the correct winner since it was so close. This has now been fixed. The highest Egg Coins point value will always win the auction. This was actually fixed yesterday.

If it occurred to you where you lost an auction that you were the highest bidder on, we are afraid that we cannot reverse the results of these already-processed auctions. We're very sorry for any inconvenience caused. It won't happen again!

Fixed: Out of Order Bid Amounts

It was possible that the system displayed auction bid amounts out-of-order. It may have placed lower bids above higher bids. This has been fixed. It will always show the correct bid order by point value.

Fixed: Not Receiving Escrows Back In Close-Call Bidding Wars

Similar to the first glitch, when final bids were placed within milliseconds of each other, the system occasionally bugged out and didn't know how to properly return EC escrows. This has been permanently fixed for all future auctions that are going to close. Only very close-call bidding wars were affected (bids placed less than 500 milliseconds apart).

Please Submit a Ticket if you did not receive an auction bid escrow back in a very close auction. We have physical logs of your bids, even after auctions process, and can verify your bid amounts if you lost something. Thank you!

Bug fix overload? We know, we know...

We know that bug fix blog posts aren't the most exciting things ever, but we want for you to be able to read about the list of bugs that we're fixing, because so many of you are reporting them. Rest assured that, after a few days of major bug fixes, these posts will become a little less.

We're working long and hard on Egg Cave to get version 3 in 100% tip-top, bug-free shape! Many thanks to our wonderful players for helping make the community amazing.

  • Actually fixed your ability to physically delete a trade
  • Fixed a glitch that duped evolution notifications
  • Fixed a glitch that may have prevented a creature image from being regenerated upon evolution
  • Fixed Cave text that said "six eggs" (should be "five")
  • Fixed "Cave attempts available" notifications from coming too early or before 10 steal attempts had been used
  • Fixed the mysterious 404 errors around the Forums for Recent Topics/Posts and Following
  • Fixed pages that may have come up blank (forums, topics, egg profiles, and user profiles)
  • Fixed Essence of Litsdnats spelling error in the Cash Shop Park

Continuing To Work On...

  • Cove List reordering issues with drag-and-drop
  • eCode issues
  • Recent feeders lists erasing themselves or being incomplete
  • No travel preview in Trinket Travels for exact species match
  • The "My Bids" page under Auctions does not display by chronological auction end time
  • Mobile layout issues
  • When using "mass clickers" at the Click Exchange, it doesn't register all of the clicks (the Exchange is only registering clicks when you do them one-by-one, which is a problem!)
