Egg/Creature Questions
How do I adopt a creature?
Click the orange-colored "Adopt" tab at the top of any page.
What are eggs? What can I do with my eggs?
Eggs are small creatures that you can adopt from Egg Cave and put them on your website, forum signature, or profile on another website to gain views, clicks, and feeds. From there, you can watch it hatch, level up, and evolve into a more powerful creature.
How do I get the code for my creatures? What do I do with the code for my creatures?
Your individual creature codes can be found at Your Cove and then by clicking "Get Code" in the respective row. Read the instructions on that page to determine which code is appropriate for you. This code can be put on your website, forum signature, or profile on another website to gain views, clicks, and feeds! Remember to feed your creatures daily, otherwise you risk them dying!
To copy and paste your code, first click once in the appropriate text box on the "Get Code" page, then press CTRL and A at the same time. This highlights everything. Then, press CTRL and C to copy the code to your computer's clipboard. Finally, put your cursor in the text box on the destination website and press CTRL and V to paste the code. Viola!
What is my creature's ID number?
Each creature has a unique number that it's identified by. You do not need creature IDs to play Egg Cave. But if you're curious, here's how to find the ID of a particular creature:
- Go to the respective creature's public profile
- Look at the URL of the profile (i.e. http://eggcave.com/egg/670750)
- The number at the end of the URL is the creature's ID: http://eggcave.com/egg/670750
- The creature ID is 670750
Can my creature die? What causes it to die?
Yes, creatures under Level 2000 can die if they are not fed. Be sure to feed your creatures daily; if you'll be away, tell your friends to feed them or put them under the care of Tim's Food Shoppe!
Creatures that are Level 2000 and greater are considered "mature" and can gather food for themselves. They cannot die (regardless of happiness).
My creature is not evolving! Help!
Sometimes your browser will continue to display an older, cached image of your creature. If you're seeing a creature of yours at an incorrect stage, clear your browser's cache.
For instructions on how to clear your browser's cache, please click here.
My creature view count has remained the same the entire day. My views aren't updating. Why?
Views are updated once every day at 3 am ECT. They are not updated in real time. However, clicks and feeds are updated in real time.
How come I get the message "Sorry you've already fed this egg today!" when I haven't?
This happens when there are multiple accounts per household (perhaps your brother, sister, mom, or dad has an Egg Cave account, or you share a computer with somebody who also plays Egg Cave). We calculated feeds off the number of unique IP addresses; that is, the number of different IPs that feed a creature. Households share the same IP. Thus, you will get that message. THIS IS NOT A GLITCH. Please do not report this.
What is the star icon (
) I see on certain creatures?
The star icon indicates that a creature is a very rare Star Creature. Star creatures are different than non-star creatures in that they are extremely rare.

Trade Center Questions
What is the Trade Center? Where is it located?
The Trade Center is where Ark citizens can trade their creatures. It is located in the northeast part of Ark City, behind the Town Hall and Adoption Center.
How many creatures can I trade at a time? How many can I offer?
You can trade as many creatures as you'd like. However, each trade lot can only contain 5 creatures. Also, each offer can only contain 5 creatures.
Not all of my creatures are being shown on the "Create New Trade" page!
That is because that creature is either in one of your other lots or you've offered it on another lot. Each creature can only be in one lot at a time.
What's up with this "exceeding 300 creatures" message? What does it mean?
Each user on Egg Cave can only have 300 creatures at any given time. This rule has been in place since of the beginning of the site (it's nothing new).
If you're offering on a lot and receive this message, you need to change how many creatures you're offering. If you have 300 creatures and lot you're offering on a lot that contains 5 creatures, you need to offer 5 creatures to stay within the bounds of the "300 Creatures Rule." If you had 300 creature and offered only 4 creatures on a 5-creature lot, in the case that your offer would be accepted, the resulting amount of creatures you would own would be 301!
If you're trying to accept an offer and receive this message, you simply cannot accept offer because of the number of creatures you currently own. To solve this, you need to contact the "buyer" asking him or her to adjust their offer. Egg Cave does not support the abandonment of creatures to maintain this rule.
Do Travels transfer with creatures that are traded?
Yes.
What happens if the creature I am trading currently has services booked at Tim's Food Shoppe?
The services will continue and be transferred to the new owner of your creature.
Can creatures die if they are being traded?
Yes. If they die, they will simply be removed from your trade lot or offer automatically. It is important to feed all of your creatures daily!
Do my creatures' views increase when they are viewed in the Trade Center?
No.
How long can my trade be up?
Thirty days. If you do not accept any offers within 30 days, your trade will be automatically closed.
Help! I traded one of my creatures away to somebody else and they promised to give it back to me but didn't! How can I get my creature back?
There is no way for us to return your creature to you. Once a creature is transferred away from your account, it is no longer under your control.
How can I keep myself safe from getting scammed at the Trade Center?
Please read the Trade Safety page for a list of common trading scams.
Town Hall Questions
What is the Town Hall? Where is it located?
The Town Hall allows you to legally rename your creatures. It is located in the east district of Ark City.

If I rename my creature, will its old name be available for other Ark citizens to use?
Yes.
How frequently can I rename my creatures?
You can rename your creatures 10 times per month. Creature renames reset at the first of every month.
I recently renamed my creature, but the name is still wrong on the creature image!
Sometimes your browser will continue to display an older, cached image of your creature. If you're seeing an incorrect name on your creature image, clear your browser's cache.
For instructions on how to clear your browser's cache, please click here.
Travel-Related Questions
What are those cool backgrounds certain creatures have?
They are called Travels. You can purchase a Travel for any one of your creatures at the Travel Agency.

Not that many Travels are available in the shop!
That's ok. The Travel Agency restocks at multiple, random times throughout the hour.
I'd like to remove a Travel from my creature.
You can do that! Go to Your Cove and then click the "Bring Home" icon.
If I "bring home" a creature, will I get the Travel back, so I can use it on another one of my creatures?
No. Travels can only be used once.
Help! I just applied a Travel to one of my creatures and it is not showing up!
If you applied the Travel and received a success message, the Travel has indeed been applied. Try clearing your browser cache and refreshing on your creature's profile (sometimes it takes multiple refreshes). This happens occassionally due to how the Egg Cave creature cache system works; rest assured that it is not a bug, nor have you lost your Travel. Keep refreshing and you will see it.
Archives Questions
What are The Archives?
The Archives contain information about each species discovered on Egg Cave.
How do I know when my creature will evolve?
Between the original indigenous tribes of Ark and the Science and Research Center in Ark City, the evolution points for most species have been determined.
To know when a particular species will evolve, find and read the species' entry in The Archives. If there is no evolution data available, it's because the species is still being actively researched by the Science and Research Center.
What does it mean when a species is "endangered?"
An endangered species is a Cave species that can no longer be found in the Cave. Species can become endangered due to natural and human causes.
On certain Archive entries, species were available on a certain date or for an event. What does that mean?
Egg Cave holds frequent holiday celebrations and site events where limited edition species are discovered. To obtain one of these kinds of creatures for yourself, be around Egg Cave for holidays and site events!
What are limited edition (LE) species? How do I get one?
A limited edition species is a species that was only available during a certain time period (i.e. holiday) or site event (like a puzzle or plot). Cash Shop Monthly species are also considered limited edition.
What does it mean when a creature is completely retired or extinct?
Retired or extinct creatures are no longer available anywhere (either the Cave, Cash Shop, events, etc). These definitions normally overlap with being a "limited edition species."
Are holiday, event, or limited edition species ever re-released?
In almost all cases, no.
What is the "Weighted Rarity" metric mean? How is it calculated?
The weighted rarity of a species is based off all the alive creatures in Ark. Generally, weighted rarities range from a number between 1 and 500, where a 0 weighted rarity means the species is extinct and 500 means a species is very common.
Why do species only need an increase in one type of stat (views, clicks, feeds) to evolve?
The stat that must increase for evolution is determined by the general personality and characteristics of each species. Some species particularly enjoy building physical strength and endurance, thus the evolution stat would be feeds. Other species are more social and like large groups so their evolution stat is views. Lastly, some species have a strong desire to feel worthy and significant and like being clicked.
That's the general rule of thumb, although it varies slightly from species to species.
Cove/Lists Questions
What is my Cove?
Your Cove is where all of your adopted creatures reside.
What can I do in my Cove?
Your Cove provides stats for all of your creatures. You can also get the code for each of your creatures in your Cove.
Viola!
What is the maximum amount of creatures I can have in my Cove?
300.
What are Cove Lists?
Lists are a way to organize your Cove on your public profile. You can create up to 5 separate lists and place whichever creatures you'd like on each list. People find this feature useful when their Cove starts to get bigger.
Potential uses: "please feed" list, "favorites" list, group by species, group by star creatures, etc.
Cash Shop Park Questions
What is the Cash Shop Park?
The Cash Shop Park is a store where you can buy limited-edition creatures and powerful items with the CaveCash currency.
What is CaveCash?
CaveCash is an in-game currency that can be purchased in the Cash Shop Park.
How do I get CaveCash?
To get CaveCash, go to the Cash Shop Park, select the amount of CaveCash you'd like to purchase, and follow the instructions. Egg Cave uses PayPal to securely process all transactions.
Help! I purchased CaveCash and it hasn't been added to my account! Where is it?
In almost all cases, CaveCash is immediately added to your Egg Cave account upon purchase. However, there are certain circumstances where PayPal requires us to manually verify your transaction.
If your CaveCash hasn't arrived within 15 minutes of your purchase, please submit in a Ticket with your transaction ID(s). We will manually verify your transaction and add the correct amount of CaveCash to your account.
Sometimes CaveCash isn't automatically added to your account depending on your method of payment and/or geographic location. Rest assured — you will indeed get your CaveCash!
My prepaid debit card does not work with PayPal! I can't get my CaveCash!
In order to use a prepaid debit card to purchase CaveCash, please activate it online before your purchase. After activation, the card will clear.
Do you issue refunds?
No. All Cash Shop Park sales are final.
Why does CaveCash require real-life money?
At Egg Cave, we pride ourselves on providing a fantastic social gaming experience. In recent days, we've found that a lot of web sites have been completely overtaken by intrusive advertisements. To keep Egg Cave amazingly awesome, we created the Cash Shop Park as a fun alternative to support Egg Cave (as opposed to welcoming third-party advertisers to invade the site).
Cash Shop Park supporters get to enjoy limited-edition creatures and items; non-supporters get to enjoy an uncluttered and simple Egg Cave. Everybody wins.

Increasing Stats
What are views? How do I get more of them?
A creature receives one view when any person on the Internet loads and sees the creature. To receive views quicker, put your creature in different places around the Internet like forum signatures, Facebook, and Twitter.
I refreshed on my creature 5 million times but it only increased my views by a small amount! My view count must be incorrect.
All views are calculated as unique views. This means that we update your views based on the number of different people that view your creature per day and add that number to your current view total. Your views are not calculated on the number of times you refresh, but by how many different people view and see your creature. The more places you put your creatures on the web, the faster they'll evolve!
My creature view count has remained the same the entire day. My views aren't updating. Why?
Views are updated once every day at 3 am ECT. They are not updated in real time. However, clicks and feeds are updated in real time.
What are clicks? How do I get more of them?
Each Egg Cave creature has its own unique click link. This click link is contained within the code you receive from Your Cove. When a user clicks to your creature through this click link, your creature's click stat will increase by one.
I clicked through my creature's click link 5 million times in a day. But my click count hasn't gone up that much!
Like views, clicks are calculated as unique clicks, which is the number of different people that click through the click link.
What are feeds? How do I get more of them?
You can feed any creature on their profile by clicking the "Feed Creature" button. You can feed your own creatures and others too. Each user can feed a creature once per day.
In addition to posting creatures in different places on the Internet, a lot of users will make friends on Egg Cave and feed each other's creatures each day. Try visiting some other users' profiles and making friends!
I've heard about "feed backs." What are they and how do they work?
Let's say user A fed user B's creatures. It would be a common courtesy for user B to "feed back" all of user's A creatures as a friendly gesture. This is a "feed back." Feed backs are a very easy way to make friends on Egg Cave and help increase feed stats quicker.
What are creature levels?
A creature's level is the average of its stats.
How are creature levels increased?
A creature's level increases as the creature's stats increase.
What purpose do creature levels serve?
Creatures Level 2000 and beyond are considered adults and cannot die from hunger or sadness.
Help! Feeding isn't working! I can't feed my creatures! I don't receive EC for feeds or my feed count doesn't increase.
Please ensure that Javascript is enabled on your Internet browser. If Javascript is disabled, you will be unable to feed your creatures. If that fails, try clearing your browser's cache and restarting your Internet browser.
We recommend using a modern browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari to ensure the best browsing experience.
